Ag Finance Counseling

In August 2015, in cooperation with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, SECOG began offering Ag Finance Counseling services to farmers and ranchers who are delinquent on their loans and requesting mediation with their lenders. Since then, SECOG has expanded the services provided to include the following:

• Counseling to farmers and ranchers who are not yet delinquent with their lenders
• Working with Ag lenders to provide an objective, third-party perspective in identifying and evaluating their farm customers' options
• Underwriting and packaging FSA guaranteed loans for borrowers and their lenders

It is estimated that Ag lenders spend 90% of their time on the 10-20% of their customers who are the most vulnerable. Those are the clients SECOG is able to assist with.
